Evan Lightfoot is a Delaware resident who currently is a student at the Delaware Military Academy and a cadet with the Delaware Air National Guard Cadet Squadron of the Delaware Wing Civil Air Patrol. Evan hopes to go to the United States Air Force Academy and be a pilot.
In Civil Air Patrol, he is currently one of the highest ranking and most successful cadets in the program. His Civil Air Patrol service started in September 2019. Since joining, he has been recognized as one of the Wings most successful cadets being recognized with a Commanders Commendation, Achievement Award, Search and Rescue Find ribbon, Community Service Award and the Air Force Association Cadet of the Year Award at the Squadron level. He has also served as Chairman of the Delaware Wing Cadet Advisory Council.
Evan has attended multiple Civil Air Patrol special activities including National Blue Beret supporting the Oshkosh Airshow, Region Cadet Leadership School and multiple staff assignments and leadership positions at summer encampments. In 2022, he attended the National Flight Academy Glider where he earned his glider solo wings. In late 2023, Evan was awarded a Civil Air Patrol Wings Scholarship, providing funding towards earning his Private Pilot certificate. He currently holds the rank of cadet Lieutenant Colonel, achieving the Ira Eaker Award. And he earned his Fixed Wing Certificate in August 2024.
Evan has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership skills. Whether it is taking charge during school or CAP activities or spearheading a STEM or aviation project. One of Evan’s most commendable qualities is his unwavering integrity and commitment to ethical conduct. He has consistently lived the core values of excellence, integrity, respect and volunteer service. Evan embodies the spirit of the DAHF Youth Award, and his dedication to aviation, leadership, community and service is truly deserving of this recognition.
