23,600 accident free hours Trained State Police Pilots Provides Disaster Relief


In 1982, Harry Griffith founded Horizon Helicopter Inc. Since then, Harry has graduated approximately 235 private pilots and has logged over 23,600 accident-free hours. He is also an approved check pilot for the Bell Jet Ranger and Enstrom Helicopters.

Since 1992, Harry Griffith has been inspecting Delaware's power lines as well as its pipelines. These surveys help keep Delaware's infra¬structure and people safe.

In 1999, Harry trained the first recorded deaf helicopter pilot in the world. Along with his Director of Maintenance, Mark Valencik, he fabricated a mountable device that would allow instruction during flight.

In 2008 Harry, along with Julie Keating, created the only Part 141 helicopter course for Veterans in the North East region through the Delaware State University. He also developed a college course at the University that would allow students to obtain their helicopter rating.

Harry has trained many of the Delaware State Police pilots as well as other law enforcement agencies within Delaware Jand the surrounding areas.

Harry has made many other contributions to Delaware. He is one of the first responders when disaster strikes the Delaware area. Harry will aide the power line contractors by flying over downed power lines or flying into remote areas to help restore power.

Giving back to the Community is also important to Harry. He has given numerous tours and seminars to various school groups. He participates in a "Flying Santa" to bring toys to orphanages and schools for children with physical and mental challenges. He is willing to rescue citizens from perilous conditions when other forms of transportation are unable.
