Gordon Farquhar
Helicopter Pilot, Vietnam Veteran, Airline Transport Pilot Rating, Bronze Star of Valor
Gordon "Rick" Farquhar attended Valley Forge Military Junior College after high school. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army Rotary Wing Program.
Rick Farquhar was assigned to the 191st Assault Helicopter Company, 9th Division Republic of Vietnam. His combat flying included assaults, medivac, resupply, rapid response, and night surveillance, among other missions.
Rick flew more than 1100 combat hours and received the Bronze Star for Valor, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, and the Air Medal, to name a few, for his service in Vietnam.
Rick Farquhar then performed various duties in the Delaware National Guard including Flight Instructor: He subsequently earned fixed wing, multi-engine, and instrument ratings.
Rick Farquhar later flew for Atlantic Aviation, Dupont Company, and Conoco Oil, flying Hawker Siddeley's S-76, Citations, and Gulfstream aircraft.
Rick has over 16,000 hours in military and civilian aircraft. He is qualified in nineteen different aircraft, seven type ratings and has an Airline Transport Rating in fixed wing and rotary aircraft.
Rick is married to Shirley Guididas Farquhar, whose father, Frank "Mike" Guididas was inducted into the Delaware Aviation Hall of Fame in 2002.
