John A. Jordan, Chief Warrant Officer 4 (Ret.) has been significantly involved in aviation since he attended U. S. Army Flight School in 1970. H flew AH-1G Cobra helicopters in Vietnam 1970-1971 on numerous missions for a total of 780 combat hours.
After Vietnam, he was a Cobra instructor at Ft. Campbell, KY and in Katterbach, Germany. In 1979 he returned to Ft. Rucker, Alabama and was a Huey helicopter instructor at the aviation school training new pilots. In 1983, he became a Chinook helicopter instructor in Finthen, Germany and later at Ft. Eustis, VA. He completed Maintenance and Test Pilot training and assignments prior to retiring from Army Aviation in 1989 after 20 years service.
In 1990, he became an instructor and test pilot for Boeing Helicopters/Defense Division field testing many models and variants of the Chinook. He also wrote, estimated and implemented training programs for many customers among which were the National Guard, U.S. Air Force, RAF, Korean , Greek , Taiwanese , Thai and Singapore military forces and others where he often lived and worked in the host countries. He retired from Boeing in 2009 with an additional 19 years of civilian aviation service.
Jack Jordan is currently employed by Survice Engineering Co. where he performs test flights on modified Chinook helicopters to ensure they are safe for other pilots.
To date, he has amassed 10,000 hours of accident/incident-free flight time.
